DC Report - July 2009

Hi everyone,
Welcome back everybody who renewed their membership for YHPC. We are a few members down, however we still have more than 70 members. Wow!
During the July rally we will have several of our lovely instructors accessed. So please everybody represent our club well, be extra nice and listen, while our good instructors might be a bit nervous being tested.
New Format for Lessons of the Top groups
We had a bit of a brain storming happening trying to give riders more choice in the higher groups.
The three highest groups are now called the Top group. Platinum, Gold and Silver will make one big group and will be able to choose lessons.
Some riders have new young frisky horses and would rather like to do more dressage. Others rather explore new training methods with grid, equitation or love the challenge of x-country and games. To assist your needs, we will try to introduce a different schedule format. I’ m planning to offer lessons like show preparation, pacework or lunging. But this rally has to be kept simple, due to the testing of the instructors.
At the beginning of the rally top-group riders can choose, what they would like to do on the day. Have a look at the schedule in this newsletter and select your preferred choice. At the beginning of the rally you can then nominate your preferred lesson on the White Board in front of the Junior Yard.
Please remember the early bird will get the worm and be prepared to be happy with a second choice. This is a trial so please be patient and let’s see how it goes.
Feedback welcome!!!
August Rally SJ with Russel Johnstone
Last years August rally at Russell Johnstone for the interested riders was a huge success. A Showjumping lesson in an indoor arena, a scrumptious BBQ and a trail ride supervised by parents made that rally truly memorable. We will offer this opportunity again this year. Everybody interested please book soon by calling Shane Diamond (9714 8462) or by contacting him in person at the July rally.
Gate Closed at all Times
This is a reminder again to all parents and riders to ensure the double gates to the Pony club grounds are closed at all times. Last rally I saw it left open again so please remember to close the gate when you are leaving the club grounds.
Grading
If you are planning to be graded for a competition, please let me know before a rally. I will than notify your instructor(s). The instructor will have a look at your riding skills and the ability of your mount. I than will grade you considering their recommendation and upgrade your grading card accordingly.
C-Certificate
This is the last rally our C-certificate candidates have coaching with Kylie. Good luck to all of you sitting your written exam at the 14th of July in Ringwood and at the practise exam on July 25 in Yarrambat. I loved to watch your gallop at the last rally.
F Grade
At the next Showjumping competition at Yarrambat you can ride in the newly introduced F grade for younger or lesser experienced riders (height of jumps 45 -50 cm). We are planning to set up a showjumping ring at the rally. You will need to get yourself graded for this. Have a go and see how hard it is to remember the right order of jumps.
Riding for the Disabled
The Diamond Valley Special Development School in Greensborough are looking desperately for a 15hh horse to buy, lease or for an occasional loan. If you know of any suitable old or bombproof horse please ring Robin Griffith on 9718 1723 or 9432 1022.
Looking forward to seeing you all at what will be a very exciting July rally.
Happy and safe riding!
Susanna
