Games Report – July 2009

Kangaroo Ground Games Competition

Yarrambat fielded two teams in the open section with the A Team being Brittany Salthouse, Georgia Kerr, Jordan Diamond & Sam Stephens who rode very well all day to win the event.

The B Team of whom half were eligible to ride in the Junior section gave all the senior teams a real scare when they were consistently knocking off their more fancied rivals, to eventually finish fourth overall. The team was Chelsea Caelli, Jaz Stephens, Molly Henry & Ashliegh Caelli who all showed that the next  generation of  Yarrambat games riders are going to be a force to be reckoned with.

State Games Competition

The A team of Alister Ling (Captain), Georgia Kerr, Jordan Diamond, Samantha Stephens, Chelsea Caelli & Jasmine Stephens won three races out of six races and finished sixth overall which was a very gutsy effort after a disastrous start to the day.

Special mention to Georgia Kerr who had a nasty fall in the first race, although battered & bruised she toughed it out and rode the remaining five races, just to prove we are a tough lot at Yarrambat.

Congratulations to the team who handled the dramas of the day in style and with grace and were terrific ambassadors for our club.

Good Luck

Good luck to Alister Ling who will be riding in the Victorian Junior National Mounted Games team at the Pony Club National Championships to be held at Horsley Park in New South Wales on the 16th July.

This will be Alister’s fourth & last year in the Victorian Junior (U16) State Team, which makes him the first Victorian Games rider to represent the State Juniors four times, this is a terrific achievement at State level.

Upcoming events:

YHPC will be holding it’s own Games competition on Sept 27 and we would like to see as many of you as possible supporting this event. There are three sections, Open, PCAV U25 and PCAV U14. Teams are of 4-5 riders and in the open section any one can ride – that means you too parents. For our junior riders it is a great opportunity for a first competition and we will be holding practice sessions closer to the date to learn the new races. So get a team together with your friends, it does not have to be all Yarrambat people, or we can organise one for you.

The next event for anyone interested will be:

-       Aug 8    AMGA  at Dingley Pony Club

-       Sept 27    Yarrambat Cup Games Day
Teams of 4-5 riders
Open – Top Gun, PCAV Yarrambat Cup U25, PCAV Yarrambat Challenge U14
8 races

If anyone would like to learn more about the above events, please give me a call.

Cheers

Tim
