DC Report April

 Hi Members,april

Firstly a reminder that our April rally is on this Sunday 29th March, allowing us all to enjoy the Easter break with our family and friends. Please also take note of the slight changes to rally times, to accommodate the AGM which is being held in the clubrooms at 12.30pm.

Easter Egg Hunt!!!

While the adults are busy at our annual AGM, we invite our riders and their siblings to join us on an Easter Egg Hunt (unmounted). Meet Ciara and Abbey on the cross country course at 1.00pm.

Out and About

Great to see so many of our riders out and about competing this month. From Games to eventing to showjumping to dressage, there have been lots of YHPC riders out and about having fun on their horses!

Our games teams had a fantastic day at the recent NMZ State Qualifiers with one of our teams winning an amazing 5 out of their 6 events, making theme the overall winners on the day!! All their hard work and practise seems to have paid off and they are now even busier, preparing for the upcoming State Games event.

A huge congratulations to Molly, Cassie, Georgia, Isabella, Edward, Rose and Mimi (NEHPC) and a very big thank you to Dennis Kerr for all the time and effort he puts in to coaching, coordinating and helping our games teams!

Our second games team suffered a last minute blow with one of their riders (Emily) suffering a broken arm just days before the event. Not to be deterred, the team pressed on and still competed with 1 team member less than everyone else!! Determination and enthusiasm abounds in this team and we look forward to seeing these future stars at the qualifiers next year! Congratulations to Jack, Aaron, Miranda, Alice, Susanna (Broadford PC and best wishes to Emily Gamble for a speedy recovery and return to riding!

We want your pics!!

We love to hear all about your outings and we would love to gather lots of pics, so don’t forget to email your photos to Ciara at yhpcwebsiteeditor@gmail.com Ciara is also keen to update the photo board at the club rooms, so send those photos in!

One of our newer members, Hannah Bird competing at Seville Horse Trials in the Grade 4 section. Hannah came home with a 6th place here and went on to gain a 3rd placing at Lilydale Horse Trials. Well done Hannah!

New Rules – Positive Changes!

Please keep up to date with the PCAV rule changes for 2015. PCAV issue a summary of these changes every year and I have copied the link below. For example, the april3heights have changed in relation to Horse Trials and the calling of dressage tests in pure dressage events is now allowed in some instances.

Someone was very quick to adapt to the new rules?? No better example of the new rules in relation to 2 riders competing on the same horse at the same event than Ashley Davies and her Mum, Cassie! They had a great day out at Lower Plenty combined training with Ashley taking out 4th place in the pony club grade 4 section and Cassie taking out 3rd place in the Open grade 5 section – Go Girls!!

Ashley and Cassie weren’t the only winners at Lower Plenty CT –Congratulations also to Maddy Ballinger, 2nd in Grade3 and Alice Davies, 3rd in Grade 5!!

Yeringberg Horse Trials – Calling keen eventers!

Yeringberg is a beautiful property located about 15 minutes out of Yarra Glen. Our Zone are lucky enough to have access to this beautiful farm and host 2 horse trials events each year.

The first horse trials will be held on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th April, presenting a fantastic opportunity for our riders to be part of a wonderful event and it would be great to see lots of YHPC riders supporting our zone. Even if you are not competing in this event, our club has been assigned a significant amount of duties at this event and we would appreciate as much support as possible from all club members. If you can help out in any way, please see Genevieve Brocksopp at the rally.

Pony club grades from G1 to G4 are offered and for those G3 and G4 riders wishing to participate in the State Interzones event later in the year, participation in this event and the Yeringberg Teams event in May, is highly regarded by selectors.

EA classes from EA 80 right through to CNC* are also offered at this event and interschool classes are also available. For those riders interested in participating in the Interschool Nationals in 2015, this event is also an official qualifier.

Entries are filling fast and close on Monday 30th March, so if you are keen, please follow the link below:

Working With Children Check – New PCAV Requirements

PCAV are implementing new rules regarding who is required to have a WWCC. This requirement is beyond the minimum mandated requirements as set out in the Working with Children’s Act, but is in the interests of promoting a safe environment at Pony Clubs.

From the 1st July 2015, Working with Children’s Checks (WWCC) will be required for Parents/Guardians and Carers. All Parents/Guardians and Carers must be registered as Adult Supporting Members by the Club with the State Association at membership renewal time. For further information, please refer to the link below:

http://www.nmz.ponyclubvic.org.au/default.asp?Page=29481

Further information in relation to how YHPC will monitor this requirement will be advised shortly, but in the interim, you may wish to consider getting a head start on your WWC application. Forms are available online via the link below:

 PCAV Certificates

A further reminder that if you completed the theory component of the C Certificate last year, but have not yet completed the practical testing, please contact me via email. Dates for completion of this certificate are limited and you need to make arrangements ASAP.

 Housekeeping….

 Uniform

A reminder that riders are required to wear the correct uniform on rally day. This includes jodhpurs that are white, beige, banana or cream. Coloured jodhpurs are NOT part of the approved uniform and we ask that all of our members respect this PCAV rule.

Car Parking

With our increasing membership, the car park is becoming very busy and we ask that drivers try and park more cautiously, allowing as many members as possible to fit into our designated parking area.

 Ring to Ride Groups

A reminder to all riders in the Black, White and Grey groups that you are required to advise your preferences to me by 5.00pm on Friday-please make the effort to send a text or email, even if you are not attending, as it makes planning a whole lot easier.
