March DC Report

Hi Members,

Welcome!

This month we are very pleased to welcome Stacey Rusic, Taylor Lamb, Gabby Page and Zali Vanderwert, who officially join us as members in March. Our membership continues to flourish, meaning that we have lots of new faces about. Please make our new members welcome and offer any assistance which may help make their start at YHPC a friendly experience.

State Dressage and Showjumping Championships – Success!

Congratulations to Brittany Salthouse and Ciara Hanlon who represented our Zone at the recent State Dressage and Showjumping Championships held in Wonthaggi last weekend. Britt rode in the B Grade showjumping competition amidst a very strong field of 35 riders, whilst Ciara competed against a very speedy class of 37 riders in the C grade competition. Selection for this event is via a Zone qualifying event held in December, which determines the 4 riders selected to compete as a team in each grade of showjumping, representing the North Metro Zone.

Despite very hot conditions, the girls enjoyed a fantastic weekend, amidst a wonderful team spirit and they managed to achieve some super results as well!

Britt and the wonderful Magpie were superb in their efforts, clearing some very tough jumps with style and speed and Ciara and Snippy had 3 fantastic rounds, not dropping a single rail for the entire competition! Brittany’s team scored an impressive 3rd placing in the State and Ciara’s team secured a hotly contested 2nd place, with a very narrow margin between 1st and 2nd place. On an individual basis, Ciara also finished in 4th place overall, so a very big congrats to both Britt and Ciara and the NM Zone showjumping teams.

The cost is $40 per horse.

PCAV Certificates

If you completed the theory component of the C Certificate last year, but have not yet completed the practical testing, please contact me via email. Dates for completion of this certificate are limited and you need to make arrangements ASAP.

Grading and Groups

Some of our groups at the February rally were unnecessarily large. If you do not wish to participate in a particular session, please DO NOT change groups without obtaining approval from the DC or Assistant DC. We will always try to accommodate requests, but to be fair to ALL riders, it is important that the group sizes remain manageable.

A reminder that riders wishing to be re graded or graded for the first time, need to come and see us before the rally starts.

Games, games and more games!

Preparations for the upcoming State Games Qualifiers appear to be well underway at YHPC! Numbers are swelling and excitement is brewing at the thought of multiple games teams.

At the March rally, we have scheduled an additional 2 hour session for games riders commencing at the start of the 3rd session. Riders wishing to participate at the upcoming qualifiers are expected to attend this session and riders new to games, are also very welcome!

Housekeeping….

 Uniform

A reminder that riders are required to wear the correct uniform on rally day. This includes jodhpurs that are white, beige, banana or cream. Coloured jodhpurs are NOT part of the approved uniform and we ask that all of our members respect this PCAV rule.

Uniform Sales

Uniforms will not be available at the March rally. If you require a uniform item urgently, you may contact Cathy Theuma at: cathytheuma@aol.com

Car Parking

With our increasing membership, the car park is becoming very busy and we ask that drivers try and park more cautiously, allowing as many members as possible to fit into our designated parking area.

Look forward to seeing you at the rally.
