May DC Report

Hi Members,

Looking forward to our May rally and hoping that the weather remains kind to us on rally day. As the winter weather sets in, it is encouraging to see so many of our riders still busy with their ponies. Our games team is very busy preparing for the upcoming State Championships, we have had lots of riders enjoying the eventing season and riders busy competing at interschool competitions as well.

Out and About

Plenty of local competitions on at the moment and its great to see so many YHPC riders supporting them. Our zone 11174908_10205841866661750_7924373641852294052_nhosted the Yeringberg Horse Trials in April where 12 YHPC riders proudly represented our club. This event was a great opportunity for riders wishing to go in the upcoming TEAM horse trials at Yeringberg (refer below for more information). A very big thank you to all families who all pitched in and helped fulfill our Zone duties. Special thanks to Poppy Brocksopp (sister of Rosie and Molly) who wasn’t competing, but spent the entire day on Sunday assisting at the Vet check area. Some very happy YHPC riders at the recent Kangaroo Ground Combined Training event. Alysha James sporting a 1st place in the Grade 5 dressage and Alice Davies coming home with 4th place! Well done girls!

Congratulations……and commiserations

Congratulations to Ciara Hanlon who successfully qualified to compete in the 2015 State Horse Trials. Ciara should be representing our club and Zone at this event this weekend, but has unfortunately suffered a serious knee injury (result of netball not horse riding) and is undergoing a knee reconstruction tomorrow. No horse riding for quite a while, but we wish Ciara a speedy and successful recovery!

A huge congratulations to Georgia Bissicks, Jack Bissicks and Alister Ling who have all been selected to join the National Mounted Games Squad. Alister is part of the Senior Squad, Georgia is part of the Junior squad and Jack is part of the Development squad. A fantastic achievement indeed and if you haven’t already read about this squad, check out the story in the recent PCAV Magazine.

North Metro Zone Team Horse Trials Event – Entries closing soon!

Thank you to the riders who have already expressed interest in competing in this event. As mentioned in my email earlier this week, this event will be held on Sunday 17th May at Yeringberg and is a pre requisite for those Grade 3 and Grade 4 riders wishing to be selected in the Grade 3/4 State Zone Teams Challenge. Remember to email me no later than Friday 1st May if you wish to be part of this fantastic team event.

We still want your pics!!

Did you notice our new updated photo board? Starting to look fantastic, but we still need your photos. If your photo is not up there yet, you probably haven’t sent one in! Please email your photos to Ciara at yhpcwebsiteeditor@gmail.com Thank you Mary for sending in this fab pic of Lauren image-2Rossin and “Chicago Dancer” who won the Novice Jackpot Championship at the recent Australian Young Rider Dressage Championships.

PCAV Certificates

Our Green group have been busily working towards completion of their D Certificate and should be ready for sign off at the May rally. Riders that completed the theory component of the C Certificate last year, but did not complete the practical testing, need to contact me via email. Dates for completion of this certificate are limited and you need to make arrangements ASAP.

Working Bee

Please don’t forget our working bee on Sunday 24th May, starting at 9.00am. Always hard to find a date that suits all, but if you cannot make it, please contact Tony Brocksopp to see when and how else you can help out. (You can contact Tony on 0412 355 235). Hope you can make it and don’t forget to bring some tools.

Ring to Ride Groups

A reminder to all riders in the Black, White and Grey groups that you are required to advise your preferences to me by 5.00pm on Friday-please make the effort to send a text or email, even if you are not attending, as it makes planning a whole lot easier.
