Christmas DC Report

Hi Members,

A brief report this month as we are immersed in preparations for our end of year activities.

Christmas rally is almost here!

Get those decorations out and imaginations into overdrive! We are really looking forward to being greeted by teams of ponies and horses decked out in their best Christmas decorations! Don’t forget, points are awarded in this category, so Captains get your team into gear!

For those who really love to dress up we are ALSO holding our annual fancy dress competition at 2.15pm – this is an optional fun event and over the years we have seen all sorts of costumes from Princesses to Indians to Musketeers, so if you haven’t already got a costume sorted, start sewing!

Hopefully by now, you have all read the program for our 2014 Christmas Team Challenge. As the name suggests, this year we are trying something different by placing riders into teams. We have a lot of new members this year and a team event will be a great way for our members to get to know each other, across all ages and abilities and have a bit of fun in the process.

As it is a team event, we will need lots of help from parents and supporters. We will be looking for a parent or support person from each team to volunteer as the Team Manager for the day to ensure that teams stay on track and get to their various destinations on time and we will also need assistance from parents at the cross country and novelty stations.

If there are riders who are unable to ride, but would still like to be involved in the rally, please contact me, as we have plenty of team support roles available. We understand that a Saturday rally can interfere with regular Saturday sporting activities, but we do try and accommodate anyone that can only attend part of the rally, mounted or unmounted. I have already had some offers of help from riders that are only available for a limited time, which is most appreciated.

Thank you to Jazz Gill, one of our riders, who has volunteered her photography services for the day. Jazz is very handy with a camera, so we will have loads of pics of the event that we can start decorating our clubrooms with.

Christmas Party – the fun continues..

After a fun day at the rally, don’t forget to head back to the clubhouse at 7.00pm for our Christmas party and 2014 Awards Presentation. With face painting, a jumping castle and disco, there will be loads of fun for all and we have lots of trophies and awards to present too!

In addition to our annual awards, this year we will be also announcing the winning team of the 2014 Team Challenge, with a trophy for all members of the winning team!

 State Qualifiers Dressage & Showjumping

Amidst very warm conditions, 7 of our riders represented our club at the State Qualifiers at Upper Yarra last Sunday. Congratulations to the following riders who all performed very well on the day:

Annalise Turner                      Dressage

Further congratulations to Brittany Salthouse who placed 3rd overall in B Grade showjumping and will represent our Zone at the State event at Wonthaggi in February and to Ciara, who placed 5th overall in the C Grade showjumping and is the first emergency for the Zone State team.

YHPC Horse Trials are over….

Our President has already thanked you all for the tremendous effort our club put in this year to make this event so successful and I would just like to reiterate that the organisation and coordination of this event is really quite outstanding and the Yarrambat horse Trials would have to be one of the best pony club events hosted in 2014! This is largely the result of a fantastic commitment from so many of our members along with some almost superhuman efforts by some (eg,Brocksopp family!) Thanks again everyone.

Merry Christmas to all

Looking forward to a fun weekend to celebrate the end of a great year at pony club. Best wishes to all for a very happy and safe Christmas!

Happy Riding !
